Intuition & Your Greatest Asset

Three keys, a quote and an invitation

One

Authenticity is the quality of being real or genuine, meaning it is not a copy of someone else or a false way of being. It also refers to the state of being true to one’s own personality, values, and beliefs, rather than conforming to external pressures. Authenticity is important when it comes to our ability to align with and master our intuition. If you’ve been feeling sarcastic about the human ability to be  ‘authentic’, you might want to think again. The same goes for ‘sincerity’.  Both are important parts of our mental agility and ability make great decisions and actions.

Two

InnSæi and it’s threefold meaning is a unique framework to guide us into the world of intuition given what we now know from science, practice and spiritualism. And I am speaking about our own intuition: We are the only people in the world that can be experts in our own intuition. For this, ‘seeing within’ is key.

‘The sea within’ shows us how to align with it, where it comes from and how it develops over time.

‘To see within’ guides us how to discern intuition from biases, addictions, fears and wishful thinking, when to trust it and when not.

And thirdly, ‘to see from the inside out’ trains us to strengthen our inner compass as we navigate the ocean of life, decide, think and act during transition, uncertainty, complexity and chaos, – which is when we may feel the strongest how intuition is our greatest asset. This is also where our authentic self plays a key role.

Three

Intuition never lies when we’re operating in the realm of the complex and chaotic, writes Laura Huang in her brilliant new book which I highly recommend: You Already Know – The Science of Mastering Your Intuition (2025).

“Gut feel is you”, she writes, but underlines the fundamental importance of self-knowledge to our ability to have a well honed intuition, to master it. The importance of ‘seeing within’.

Trusting ourselves does not mean ignoring biases, Laura writes. “We make errors, like confirmation bias to confirm our own opinions, or blaming ourtside factors when things don’t go our way (fundamental attribution bias), There are ways in which we can be primed to address them – in our own way, rather than through a method that is uniquely someone else’s.

A quote:

“The key is to know your own conventions, patterns, fixations, and obsessions. Own your own good, bad, and ugly… It’s when you forsake who you are and defer to, even prioritize, the guidance of other’s voices, expectations, or approaches over your own that it gets tricky.”

― Laura Huang in You Already Know (2025)

An invitation

Wisdom is asking the right questions. Clarity comes with presence and heightened awareness about how and to what we pay attention.

In her book, Huang tells the story when Rick Cohen was growing his company, he relied on his intuition that guided him to a counterintuitive solution to a chaotic problem –” the type of problem that required his gut feel”. Rick Cohen is the owner of C&S Wholesale Grocers, which is now the largest grocery wholesaler in the US, boasting $33 billion in annual revenue and fifteen thousand employees.

During a crucial point in his career he needed to find a solution to a challenge that might have ruined his company. Rick asked himself:

“Is this gut feel I’m having a negative or positive one?”

In Rick’s case, it was definitely a negative on. So he further asked himself:

“If I had to summarize my gut feel, what would be its tagline?”

His answer? – “We are growing our way to decline”.

This changed the course of his decision process and trajectory of his company.

My invitation this week is for you to:

Think about a challenge you are dealing with in your life or at work.

If you had to summarise your gut feeling or intuition about that challenge, is it positive or negative?

What would be its tagline?

Write the answer in your journal and observe the physical reactions you have to it. Now think what next practical steps you can take to follow your intuition.

Thank you for reading, as always, I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions. If you are enjoying reading this, are curious to find out more and think others might be, please do share!
