Inspiring consultants and leaders to shift mindsets and connect within
“Most of what we are noticing and picking up with our whole body and whole system are unconscious to us. Intuition is our channel into our unconsciousness and this is why I think being connected to, getting acquainted with, celebrating, getting to know our intuition is so, incredibly and fundamentally important in the world we live in today, because we are all shortening our attention spans.”
Our attention is being hijacked all the time, there’s like a trillion dollar business geared towards hijacking your attention. And they have some brilliant psychologists and neuroscientists on board!
– So we need to be clever, we need to be the owners of our own attention. We need to honour and respect our intuition because this will enable us to feel better, to be happier and also to use our greatest source of intelligence that we can use if we chose to.”
I had the honour to be a guest in Julia Culen’s Conscious Consulting Podcast episode Julia Culen explores the meaning, deeper dimensions and importance of intuition in today’s world.
We discuss how we are ignoring it to the detriment of our well-being, understanding of the world and relationships with ourselves, each other and the natural world.
We need to consciously be the stewards of our own attention, because we’re losing control over it. As leaders, consultants, mentors, how are we setting an example as people who sense the times we live in, take good decisions for a given context and are able to bring out the best in our colleagues and others?
“Intuition is fundamental to our intelligence, our sense of belonging, connecting with other people and the world around us. I don’t think there’s a major plot going on in terms of ignoring our intuition, but I think for many different complex reasons we do.”
Harnessing good intuition, aligning with the sea within us, InnSæi, asks of us to do it in our own original way, because intuition and the understanding that comes with it, is not as easily replicated as other skills we learn at school, like rational thinking, analysis and calculations.
Julie said that if everybody in the world would read and use my book InnSæi the world would change immediately – what an encouraging review, I thought to myself.
“We call it instant transformation, it’s the moment you take a new choice and a new world emerges around you.” – Julia Culen
If we change our own awareness, it has ripple effects on everything around us. Aligning with and harnessing InnSæi and intuition strengthens our inner compass, agency and counters apathy.
We talk about the important of having the discipline to harness your intuition. It is always there, it is up to us to notice it and we need to harness it. Good intuition is different from biases, fears, wishful thinking. It cannot be divorces from other cognitive abilities – we need good intuition to reason well. Without intuition, there wouldn’t be much innovation.
Julia has an impressive career in business, strategy and consulting in the corporate world, and spent years working with The Boston Consulting Group, Uncredit Bank Austria and Beratergruppe Neuwaldegg, as a Managing Partner, leading international Change and Strategy Projects. She co-founded Conscious Consulting Group with Christian Mayhofer and together they support companies and organisations undergo profound organizational transformation and development.
